Tweed River Jockey Club announces new Sponsorship relationship with the Riverview Hotel Murwillumbah

Chairman of Racing at the Tweed River Jockey Club, Mr Bernie Quinn OAM, was excited to announce the Riverview Hotel and their new sponsorship support of the Tweed River Jockey Club. 

Mr Quinn said, “I am excited to announce the major sponsor of the Murwillumbah Cup of 2017 as the Riverview Hotel.

The Club is very proud to have this association and thanked the new owners of the Riverview Hotel, John and Michael Schlederer, for their support”.

Mr Quinn went on to say, “In all my years as Chairman of the Club we have appreciated the support of all the local businesses and it is great news for the Club and the town that we have been able to secure a new local sponsor for the Murwillumbah Cup and we look forward to a long great working relationship”.

Racing at Murwillumbah continues on Friday the 25th August 2017.

The Murwillumbah Cup of 2017 has been programmed this year for August. The Murwillumbah Cup has historically been held on the last Sunday in June.

General Manager of the Tweed River Jockey Club, Brian Charman, said it was a major coup for the Tweed River Jockey to have the Prestigious Murwillumbah Cup race day transferred to a Friday afternoon.

"It is a terrific result for racing here at Murwillumbah and also for the racing industry".

Brian Charman went on to say that the Murwillumbah Cup will be the first of the triple headers of Cup meetings on the Northern Rivers with the Murwillumbah Cup being a terrific lead into the Ballina Cup to be held on Thursday7th September followed by the Lismore Cup on Thursday 21st September.

Another fantastic afternoon and evening are planned on course with gates opening at 11.00am and the first of eight races starting at 12.25 with the Riverview Hotel Murwillumbah Cup of 2017 scheduled for 4.10pm kick off. 

Tursa Employment and Training continue their great support of racing on the Northern Rivers and in particular of Murwillumbah where they again sponsor the running of the Tursa Employment and Training Murwillumbah Newmarket, a terrific race over 1200m.

The afternoons racing will be heavily supported by trainers, jockeys and connections north and south of the border as they race for in excess of $185,000 in total prize money on the day.

The entertainment does not finish there. As we have come to expect now at the Murwillumbah races there is a fun filled evening with Mark Forbes, Sports commentator, entertaining the crowd through to 6.00pm, followed by the Mangrove Jack Band live on course till late.

Aussie Bouncin Bites will entertain the children, along with market stalls and fashions, a great day for everybody.
