Murwillumbah trainers have started the year on a high combining for 4 winners on the 7-race card at yesterday’s Lismore race meeting. Nine Murwillumbah-trained horses from four trainers ran at the Lismore meeting with 4 winners and 3 placings.
Peter Sinclair has hit the ground running at his Murwillumbah stable with his second winner from 5 starters. Always Hunting, piloted by Brodie Loy, won the first on the card, the NRRA Country Championship Heat Here Sat 17 Feb Class 1 & Maiden Plate (2120m).
Neville Boyle continued the run of form for Murwillumbah trainers with Laguna De Chicabel winning the Bolt Barn Country Boosted Benchmark 58 Handicap (1220m) over a fast finishing Snow Falcon (Shane Everson) and Milton Road (Matthew Dunn). Boyle’s other runner on the day, Sheezabenfica ran a gallant 4th in the Levi’s Project Country Boosted Maiden Handicap (1536m) which another local trainer Darren Graham’s Son of Heroic ran 3rd.
Matthew Dunn topped the day off with Written Fame, ridden by Ben Looker, winning the penultimate event. Furthermore, Spillify won the final event on the card under the guidance of Murwillumbah-based Brodie Loy who rode two winners and two placings on the day from 5 starters. Since returning to the riding ranks on Big Dance Day at Murwillumbah, Brodie has rode 12 winners and 10 placings from 50 starts at a place strike rate of 44%. Matthew Dunn’s Milton Road (NZ) and Bravezel placed in their respective events on the day.
Feature racing returns this Saturday with the Magic Millions meeting at the Gold Coast Turf Club as well as Pink Silks Day at Coffs Harbour on Sunday. Far Too Easy (David McColm), Rainbow Connection, Boom Torque and Derry Grove (Matthew Dunn) have been nominated for this Saturday’s Magic Millions meeting at the Gold Coast Turf Club.
